Let your mind be swallowed
by the map and lead you to your
own conclusions. What happened?
What is about to happen? Who are
you? Where are you? Does Bread
and Butter really match? -From
Phobia.txt
Phobia: First revealed as a
Doomworld pic
of the day; the screenshot
, of course looking great, garnered
quite a load of hype - the
question is: does it live up to
that hype? The answer: of course!
Ebola has put together a level
with such an atmosphere that
you'll be amazed when you load it
up in Legacy. Even you anti-Legacy
people out there will probably
grin when you see it =)
Phobia utilizes many of Legacy's
features, such the 3D features
and dynamic lights, plus Ebola
made great use of water in
several areas. You'll be
impressed throughout your play
with the level's graphical
achievements.
The graphics weren't the only
plus side to Ebola's level. There
are several other key aspects,
such as the use of scripted
events via FraggleScript,
DeHackEd, new graphics, creative
architecture, different gameplay
settings, and a sweet MP3 track
by Marc Pullen, "Cut,"
to go along with it; all this
makes for an incredible
atmosphere and some great Dooming.
The controls are clumsy now and
then because of some of the new
features and true 3D, but nothing
to hinder the enjoyment of the
map. Make sure you pay attention
to the text messages, I got a bit
disoriented because of that at
first. Also, you must have beta 2
of Legacy v1.32 (find it in our
downloads section if you don't
have it), and run the suggested
command line as well (found in
phobia.txt). Now go grab the
level and load up Legacy, your
Phobia is waiting...

Notes: Tarin wasn't around for
this review, so that means two
things: First, it means that this
is my first Doom level review.
And secondly, I'll add Tarin's
comments about Phobia as soon as
I get them. Also, there isn't a
big gallery because that might
ruin your Dooming experience. The
only screenshot shown was already
released at Doomworld - so thanks
to them as well. Enjoy Phobia, it
rocks!
